Squad 33
November 11, 2013
Kinsman Fire Department took delivery of our new ambulance this morning. The township trustees approved the purchase of this 2013 Osage Super Warrior from Myers Equipment in Canfield.
We look forward to serving the community in this ambulance for many years to come. Many thanks to Dave from Myers Equipment with the excellent service that was given throughout this purchase.

On January 1, 2012, Kinsman Township officially contracted with Johnston Township for EMS protection. With the agreement, Johnston has leased Kinsman's squad and the 3 Kinsman EMT's now function under Johnston Township protocol. Johnston Township pays for all supplies, fuel, insurance and workers compensation premiums.
The Kinsman ambulance will stay housed at Kinsman's fire department building and continue to respond to all calls in Kinsman Township. This ambulance will be dual-dispatched with a paramedic ambulance out of Johnston's station. All billing will be done by Johnston Township and all Kinsman Township residents will be insurance billed only, just like the current set up for Johnston residents.
Kinsman joins Gustavus and Johnston who have been in a cooperative agreement since the early 2000s. By joining forces, it allows us to have more reliable coverage at a cheaper cost than any single township would be able to provide. It also allows us to be eligible for regional grants and additional money.
An advisory board has been established, made up of a trustee, fiscal officer and fire chief from each township (Johnston, Kinsman and Gustavus) as well as the Medical Director and EMS officer in charge of operations from Johnston. This board will meet at least twice a year and review budgets, operations and future planning.
